Your client sends you agreements to sign in Worksuite. This article shows where to find them, what each status means, and what to do if an agreement has the wrong name, address, rate or other details, so you can sign once and get to work.
Your client's workspace may use different names, for example Engagements instead of Contracts, or Workflows instead of Onboarding.TABLE OF CONTENTS

Where to find your agreement
Your client decides what you sign and when it's sent. Check these places:
- Contracts: go to Contracts → All Contracts and open the Contract that shows the Signing status.
- Onboarding: if your client added a signing stage to your onboarding, open that stage. It lists each agreement under Sign agreements.
- Documents → Agreements: lists every agreement your client has sent you, with its status.
- Email: the email your client's workspace sends you includes a link that opens the agreement.
An agreement usually appears only after you finish the stages before it, such as tax information, bank details, insurance or a compliance review. If your Contracts and Documents pages are empty, your client hasn't sent an agreement yet. Message your client to ask when it's coming.
How to sign an agreement
- Open the agreement and click Preview and sign.
- Read the whole agreement.
- (Optional) To keep an unsigned copy, or share it with an advisor before you sign, click Download PDF or Download.
- Add your signature where the agreement asks for it. Depending on how your client set up the agreement, you draw or type your signature, or you type your name in the box and click Confirm signing Agreement.
- Submit your signature.
The agreement shows Processing while other people sign, then Signed when everyone has signed.
If your Contract shows Accepting instead, there's nothing to sign. Open the Contract and click Accept. If someone has to accept before you, the button stays unavailable until they do.
What each agreement status means
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Preparing | Your client's agreement is still being created. | Wait. You'll get an email when it's ready to sign. |
| New or Review and sign | The agreement is ready for your signature. | Review and sign it. |
| Processing | You've signed. The agreement is waiting for others to sign, or for the final signed copy to be saved. | Nothing. You're done for now. |
| Signed | Everyone has signed. | Use Download to save a copy for your records. |
Download for the final signed copy appears only after everyone has signed.
What Contract statuses mean
If your agreement is part of a Contract, the Contract has its own status:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under review | Your client is reviewing the Contract internally. You can't sign yet. |
| Signing | The Contract is waiting for signatures, including yours. |
| Accepting | The Contract needs you to click Accept instead of signing. |
| Scheduled | Everyone has signed or accepted. The Contract starts on its start date. |
| Live | The Contract is active. |
| Rejected or Cancelled | The Contract was stopped. Message your client for next steps. |
If the details on your agreement are wrong
Your name, company, address and other pre-filled details are copied from your profile and tax information when the agreement is created. If you update your profile later, an agreement that was already sent keeps the old details.
Before you sign
Don't sign an agreement that has the wrong details.
- Update your profile or tax information. See How to Update Your Profile, Email Address and Password.
- If the agreement shows Reject..., click it and explain what's wrong. If it doesn't, message your client from Messages. See Sending a Message in Worksuite.
- Ask your client to send a corrected agreement. It picks up your updated details.
- Check the corrected agreement, then sign it.
If the rate, totals, dates or other terms are wrong, your client sets those. Message them before you sign so they can correct the Contract and send it again.
After you've signed
You can't edit an agreement after you sign it. This includes signing under the wrong legal name, or as a business when you meant to sign as an individual. Ask your client to cancel the agreement and send you a corrected one.
Each client has its own workspace in Worksuite. Send your request from that client's Messages page. If you can't reach your client, contact Worksuite Support.
Asking for changes to the terms
You can preview, download, sign or reject an agreement. You can't edit its text. The terms belong to your client, so send any questions or requested wording changes to them before you sign. If your client changes a Contract after it's live, they send you a change request to review and accept. See How to Review and Accept a Change to Your Contract.
Some agreements show Discuss and Sign instead of Preview and sign. It lets you comment on the agreement text with your client before anyone signs.Troubleshooting
"Contract is being processed internally"
Your client is working on the Contract, for example an internal review. Wait for them to finish. If it doesn't change, message your client.
The Contract says it has expired
The Contract's dates passed before it was signed or accepted, so it can't go ahead as it is. Message your client and ask them to send it to you again.
You're asked to sign another agreement
This is normal. Clients can send another agreement at any time, for example for a different project or an updated version of their terms. If you're not sure why you received it, ask your client.
Nothing happens when you click the agreement
- Refresh the page and try again.
- Try a different browser, or a private or incognito window.
- Clear your browser cache and allow pop-ups from Worksuite.
The agreement stays on Preparing
Your client's agreement is still being created. You'll get an email when it's ready. If you haven't heard anything and it still shows Preparing, message your client.
Who to contact
- Your client: questions about what an agreement says, its terms, when it will be sent, or getting a corrected one.
- Worksuite Support: problems with the signing process itself, such as an agreement that won't open or an error message.
