If you've finished working with a client, you can request that your Worksuite account with that client be deleted. You send the request from your settings, and your client completes it. This article covers what to save first, how to send the request, what happens next, and what to do if you change your mind.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

How your account works

Each client that uses Worksuite has its own workspace. When a client invites you, you get a separate profile in that client's workspace. Your profile is visible to that client only, and Worksuite runs the platform on the client's behalf.

This means:

  • Deleting your account removes your profile with one client only. If you work with several clients, send a request in each workspace.
  • Profiles with different clients can't be combined. You enter your bank and tax details in each one.
  • Each client runs its own onboarding, so a new client may ask you to complete steps you've already done for another.

Remove some details instead

If you only want to remove or change some information, you don't need to delete your account. Edit your profile instead. See How to Update Your Profile, Email Address and Password. Required fields, such as your name and email address, can't be left empty.

What deletion removes

Deleting your account removes your profile and personal information, including uploaded documents and ID, bank details and tax details. You also lose access to your agreements, invoices and payment history in that workspace. None of it can be restored.

Before you start

  • Make sure all your invoices are paid. Your client can't complete the deletion while you have an invoice in progress.
  • Download anything you want to keep: pay run statements, payment reports, signed agreements and tax forms.
  • If you have an active Contract, tell your client before you send the request.

Request deletion

Important: Deletion can't be undone. Once your client completes it, you can't log in to that workspace or get your records back.
  1. Log in to Worksuite.
  2. Click the settings icon next to your profile picture at the bottom left, then click Account.
  3. Click Delete your account.
  4. In the Are you sure? window, select a Reason for leaving.
  5. Click Delete.

You'll see "Your request to delete your account has been received and will be deleted within the next 2-3 business days."

If you don't see Delete your account, contact Worksuite Support. Include your client's name or the Worksuite web address from your invitation, and the email address you log in with.

What happens next

  • Your request goes to your client's admins, who see it on their list of deletion requests and complete the deletion. They get reminders until they do.
  • Your client can't complete the deletion while you have an unpaid invoice in progress.
  • Until it's done, you can still log in, and you may still get emails.
  • Once it's done, you can't log in to that workspace.

If you can still log in after a few business days, contact Worksuite Support with your client's name and your login email.

If you sent a request by mistake

Message your client right away and ask them not to complete the request, and tell Worksuite Support so the open request can be closed. You can't withdraw it yourself, and once your client completes it, it can't be undone. See Sending a Message in Worksuite.

If your account was already deleted, your old information can't be restored. Ask your client to invite you again, then register a profile from the new invitation.

If your client archived your profile

Clients can archive a profile, for example when work ends. While your profile is archived:

  • You can't log in.
  • You don't get login emails.
  • You can't register again in that workspace with the same email address.

Only your client can restore your profile, and restoring it gives you access again. Contact your client to ask. If you need tax form notices sent to a different address while you're archived, contact your client or Worksuite Support.

If your client stops using Worksuite

When a client stops using Worksuite, your access to that workspace and its records ends.

  • While you still have access, download your pay run statements, payment reports, agreements and tax forms.
  • After access ends, ask the client's finance team for anything you need, and use your own bank statements as a record of payments.

Can I pause my account instead?

Worksuite doesn't have an option to pause an account. If you want to stop getting work from a client for a while, tell them through Messages.

Your data and privacy

Your client decides what information its workspace collects, and Worksuite processes it on the client's behalf. To learn how Worksuite handles personal data and how to exercise your data rights, read the Worksuite Privacy Policy.
